Westfield's First Fire Truck, a used 1937 Ford donated by Texaco

Westfield began using LDH (3.0") hose as far back as 1972. They received a Grant in 1985 and put ALS equipment in a station wagon, had Dr.Craig Bales as the Medical Director, Chuck Buschardt a Houston Paramedic as their Medical Officer, and formed an aggressive First Responder Program. This continued into the 1990’s with changes in Medical Directors and the formation of Harris County ESD-1. Westfield has, after the AMR reign, returned to the First Responder Program. They bought the vehicle and two (2) Lifepak 300 S.A.E.D.’s from ESD-1. One is carried on Engine 3 and the other is on Squad 25. Westfield has also purchased two (2) ISG thermal imaging cameras, one for each lead engine. We have also ordered two- (2) 2000-gallon Custom Pumper/Tankers to be delivered in May 2001. Westfield presently has an ISO rating of 6/9, but with the new equipment arriving and an automatic mutual aid agreement being formed, we strive to obtain a 5/7 rating.
Westfield has assisted in part or totally for the careers of a large amount of our Fire and EMS personnel.
